Ultrasonic crack testing for Steel Bar manufacturing plant Ultrasonic crack testing is a non-destructive method that uses high-frequency sound waves to detect and locate cracks, flaws or defects in materials. It is commonly used in aerospace, automotive, and manufacturing industries to ensure the safety and reliability of materials and components. This ultrasonic testing machine is also used in Steel bar manufacturing plants to find cracks in the Bar. Before testing the Bar, it is Chamfered at the edge of the Bar. The entry of the bear into the ultrasonic machine becomes easy. Then the Bar is checked for ultrasonic crack testing; here are the steps to follow: Secure the Bar: The bars are loaded in the loading area and then moved to the chamfering, hydraulic clamps are used to securely hold the Bar in place during chamfering. Securing the Bar will help ensure accuracy and prevent the Bar from moving around. Choose the right tool: For chamfering the edge of a metal bar, you can use a deburring tool or a chamfering tool. A deburring machine automatic tool powerd by a servo system. It can be used to remove sharp edges or burrs from the edge of the Bar. A chamfering tool is a rotary tool that can be used to create a uniform bevel along the edge of the Bar. Set the angle: Determine the angle of chamfer required for the ultrasonic crack testing. Standard angles used in ultrasonic testing are 30, 45, and 60 degrees. Use a protractor or a chamfering gauge to set the tool to the desired angle. Chamfer the edge: Hold the tool at the desired angle and start chamfering the edge of the Bar. Move the tool along the edge in a steady motion, applying light pressure. Take care not to remove too much material or create any flat spots on the chamfer. Inspect the chamfer: Once the chamfering is complete, inspect the edge of the Bar to ensure that it meets the required specifications. If necessary, make any adjustments or refinements to the chamfer. Collect the Bar: After inspection, the Bars are collected at the collecting area and moved to the packing and the rejected cracked bars are in a different rejected area. It's important to note that Bar chamfering is a heavey duty machine and fully automatic machine, its operated by experienced and trained professionals using appropriate safety precautions.
